Learning about The Farm

Learning about The Farm

Junior Infants learned all about ‘The Farm’ in Aistear.

We had three different stations where the boys worked in groups. These stations included Role Play, Construction and Small World. The boys took turns each afternoon on different stations and had lots of fun.

The Role Play station involved pretending to be a farmer and doing the jobs of feeding the animals, putting new hay in the shed for the calves, driving various machines and learning about how farmers use these machines to carry out duties on the farm.

We looked at real crops (corn) and learned about how it is taken to the mill and used to make bread through videos.

We then listened to a story about ‘Grandad’s Farm’ and the boys did some lovely colouring.

In our Art lessons, we made sheep with cotton wool and cows and pig with paper plates.

In our Science lesson, we made butter using milk from the cows.

The boys enjoyed the thematic focus on ‘The Farm’.
