Last week, Junior Infants brought in their pet teddy bear animals and we engaged in 'Show and Tell'. The boys then participated in various stations during Aistear with a focus on the theme of 'The Vets'. These areas included 'Socio-Dramatic Play'- where the boys took part in role play situations in the vet's surgery- playing the roles of the vet, vet surgeon, nurse, patient & owner. The boys really enjoyed learning about animals and taking care of their pets. As part of 'Construction' the boys built kennels for the dogs and cages for the pet cats. At the 'Small World' station- they used mini lego figures and worked collaboratively together to depict the daily duties that a vet may carry out. Using play-doh the boys made collars for the dogs, whiskers for the cats, cages for rabbits and they even made treats for the dogs! They even took x-rays of the animals whilst playing the role of vet surgeon! Junior Infants are all looking forward to finding out our next theme for Aistear!
