We have been learning all about Spring during the month of March in Junior Infants. We have been enjoying learning about and recognising the symbols of Spring which linked in well with our theme of ‘The Farm’ in Aistear.
At the role play station, the boys drove the farm vehicles on the tuff tray, organised the animals in the fields/sheds and used the hay on the tuff tray as bedding for the animals in sheds. They enjoyed using the combine harvester with the real straw and grain which brought this role play to life!
Another station was we worked on was ‘Construction’. Here, we built sheds for the animals using jenga blocks and we also built little roads and laneways to enable the farmer to gain access to his land and the animals grazing.
Another fun activity was jigsaws and puzzles all about farm animals. We discussed the animals and the names of their babies.
In the small world, we played on the farm using small figures, small toy animals and farm vehicles.
Each station involved fun and active learning for all to enjoy!
