Butter Making in Junior Infants

18-March-23
Butter Making in Junior Infants

Junior Infants enjoyed a very fun science activity making butter in groups. They learnt about cows and milk during ‘The Farm’ in Aistear. We listed the dairy products that we get from cows. In a whole group we discussed the stages in milk production. The boys then used pictures to sequence the stages. In groups, they used double cream to make butter in a small jar. They each took turns to shake the jar with double cream and after 10 minutes or so, some groups had made butter! There was great excitement in Junior Infants during this activity.

Lots of enthusiasm and interest in exploring in our Science lesson.

The boys then enjoyed a toast party as a reward after all their hard work making butter!
