On Wednesday, June 7th, Form 5 and 5.1 went to CP Adventures, Russborough House in Co. Wicklow for our annual school tour.
We left at around 8:30am on a large coach bus. The drive took about 50 minutes and we arrived at CP Adventures at around 9:30am. When we arrived, we were split up into 4 groups. After that, three of the groups walked down to Blessington Lake and put on life jackets and helmets. Then in our three groups, we boarded 3 canoes. From there, all three boats chaotically paddled around the lake attempting to splash the other boats.
Once we got back to the main area, we got a small break to have some snacks and sweets. Next the groups split up. My group went to archery. There we were shown how to shoot and load a bow safely. We took a few practice shots and then had a competition.
Later at 1pm, we had about 45 minutes to eat our lunches which mostly consisted of more sweets. After lunch, our groups split to a new activity. My group went zip lining. Mr Burke also decided to take part. Ziplining was really fun. We each got to go twice. Then we moved onto wall climbing. Almost all of us made it to the top of the wall, although it was quite hard. The the groups merged back together to do bushcraft. First, we all built dens, some were waterproof, others however, were rather unsuccessful. Next we got flint and steel, and made fires. Only two of them took off properly, where we roasted very nice marshmallows over them.
We were all wrecked on the bus back. Overall, the day was very fun and would highly recommend it to other classes and schools.
