This month Junior Infants have been learning about dinosaurs. Our Aistear activities were based around the theme of dinosaurs. Our activities included dinosaur small world, working like palaeontologists to excavate dinosaur bones, building dinosaurs from Lego and blocks, making a giant dinosaur floor puzzle and making shape dinosaurs using different shaped pasta pieces. The junk art station in Aistear involved cutting up straws to make a pattern inside the outline of a dinosaur. We learned the dinosaur song ‘I’m a Giant T-Rex’ and a finger rhyme called ‘Five Little Dinosaurs’. We made paper plate dinosaurs in our Art class. We also sorted dinosaurs into sets by colour, dinosaur type, dinosaurs that walk on two feet, dinosaurs that walk on four feet, meat eating dinosaurs and plant eating dinosaurs-we are dinosaur experts. We listened to the picture book stories ‘Dinosaurs Love Underpants, Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs and George and the Dinosaur’ in circle time. We brought in dinosaurs for ‘Show and Tell’. We loved this Aistear theme!
