During the month of November, Junior Infants were learning all about the theme of ‘Space’.
The three Aistear stations included construction, creative play and role play.
At the construction station, the boys made rockets using large lego blocks and small jenga blocks.
The boys engaged in creative play by listening to and following all the steps to create a space helmet.
The role play station proved very popular where some boys dressed up as astronauts in the space station and then sat into the lego rocket!
We read lots of books too including ‘Aliens Love Underpants’, ‘Back to Earth with a Bang’ and ‘Man on the Moon’ where we heard about the typical day of an astronaut. We watched some videos about space and we learned that Neil Armstrong’s footprint is still on the moon because there is no wind there! In music, we listened to the Planet Song which helped us to remember interesting facts about the planets!
We did lots of art over the two weeks based on the theme of ‘Space’ including flying saucers and also colouring the planets and spaceships. We made great display boards with our lovely art. Take a look at our wonderful creations!
