Last week we learned all about ‘The Bakery’ in Junior Infants which was integrated across various subjects throughout the week.
We started off the week by learning our new sound ‘b’ and then Junior Infants explored the theme of ‘The Bakery’ in Aistear.
They engaged in various other activities which included reading ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’ as stories in circle time.
The three stations in Aistear included Role Play, Art and Crafts and Water Play where the boys rotated station each day. Role Play involved acting out various scenarios and roles in the bakery including waiters, chef and customers on a busy Saturday morning. The boys enjoyed selling the baked goods. They showed great creativity making cupcakes at the Art and Crafts station using markers, crepe paper and pom poms as cherries. The third station involved water play where the boys washed and cleaned various utensils that were used in the bakery.
In our Art class, we made doughnuts with paper plates and designed them with sprinkles!
As a Friday treat, the boys baked gingerbread men to link in with the theme of learning throughout the week. This fun activity created great excitement among the boys and they were a well deserved treat!
