Cricket has been played on the front pitch of St. Mary's College for over 80 years. We have a great tradition of playing cricket and it is played in the Summer term, when the rugby season finishes.
Starting in 2nd class, each class has cricket training after school one day a week.
On Wednesdays, the boys from 2nd to 6th class play in a class league; where 6 to 8 teams play games in a league format with the winners being decided with semi- finals and finals in May in Kenilworth Square.
From the older classes, we field teams to compete against other schools; two teams are entered into competitions – one in the Raftery under 13 Plate and also the Leprechaun Cup, for the younger players. In recent years, the College has enjoyed tremendous success winning the Leinster Schools Junior and Senior cup Double in 2014.
Boys are also encouraged to play cricket during the summer months in Leinster Cricket Club who St Mary’s have been associated with for many years.
